This is a vintage Japanese furoshiki with a traditional Japanese pattern called "karakusa" and a paulownia floral print which is called "kiri no hana" in Japanese.  Furoshiki are a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth traditionally used to wrap and/or to transport goods.  They can also be used as a wall hanging or table cloth.
