Driftwood Joint

This piece of driftwood is a traditional joint that would have been used for carpentry here in Japan. Traditional Japanese carpentry involved building wooden furniture and homes without the use of nails, screws, glue or electric tools.  It can be seen as an art that Japan has refined over many generations.

Each driftwood piece has been treated at home however please note Australian customers, that there is no commercial treament license so Customs may not allow this item.
 
Each piece is collected by me from my local beach in North Eastern Japan and posted directly from Japan.
